Scoring Tech

Law enforcement

Keep your qual. Add an assessment.

Hit Factor measures speed and accuracy together, so you see how your officers really shoot. Start with a pilot, then grow when you are ready. Every assessment runs on JMAP, the Joint Marksmanship Assessment Package, built with the U.S. Marine Corps.

What we offer

Four ways to work with us.

Start small and see the difference on your own range, with your own officers. Each step builds on the one before it. Prices are built from two numbers: $50 per officer, and $1,500 per field-team day with travel and lodging included.

AMAAgent Marksmanship Assessment

Built with the DEA. It tests shooting skill from close range out to 25 meters. You can compare your officers with the best who have shot it, or with threats designed with the DEA, such as an untrained attacker.

CAMACompressed AMA

The same assessment, faster to run.

SMASWAT Marksmanship Assessment

For tactical teams, shot with either pistol or rifle. It adds distance, target transitions and more required difficult shots.

Additional options

SFMASpecial Forces Marksmanship Assessment

Done with U.S. Army Special Forces.

CustomDesigned for you

We can also design a custom assessment for you, and even run the world's best shooters on it, in kit with their duty guns, so you can see where your officers stand.

Pilot Assessment

AMACAMA

A small group of your officers shoot a Hit Factor assessment, and you see what it shows about your people before committing to anything larger. It sits beside your current qual. Nothing needs to change.

  • We provide the JMAP assessment kit and hardware, so you buy nothing to try it
  • A small group of your officers, chosen by you
  • Reports for each shooter and for the group
  • A debrief on what the results mean for your training

Best for: agencies that want to see the difference before they decide.

Investment

Typically $2,750 to $5,500

$50 per officer plus $1,500 per field-team day. Example: 25 officers in one day, $2,750.

On your range

Assessment Day

AMACAMASMA (SWAT)

Our team comes to your range with the kits and assesses a full group of your officers in a day or two. You get a complete picture of where your agency, or your team, stands.

  • Our field team brings the kits and runs the range day with your staff
  • Reports for every officer and for the whole group
  • A tactical team version for SWAT
  • Customization quoted separately

Best for: agencies and tactical teams ready to measure a full unit, or to follow a successful pilot.

Investment

$50 per officer plus $1,500 per day

Field-team day rate includes travel and lodging. Example: 100 officers over two days, about $8,000.

Whole agency

Everybody Assessment

AMACAMASMA

Every officer, every quarter. We run two-day range assessments each quarter, and your own instructors can run the assessment themselves between our visits.

  • Quarterly two-day range assessments with our team
  • We train your instructors to run it on their own
  • Run it yourselves with your own kits, which we sell at our cost plus a small markup
  • Full reporting and data science across your agency, tracked over time
  • Customized to your mission, your equipment and your definition of good

Best for: agencies that want to measure every officer and track progress as a standing program.

Investment

About $50 per officer per year, plus $3,000 per quarterly visit

Each quarterly visit is two field days at $1,500, travel and lodging included, or $12,000 a year in visits. Example: 300 officers, about $27,000 a year. Customization and data science scoped to your agency.

Evidence for decisions

Gear, Equipment and Gun Studies

Choosing a new red dot, carbine or duty pistol? We test the options on real shooters and report which performs better, with data your agency can stand behind.

  • Your question, designed into a test
  • Timed, scored shooting that compares options head to head
  • A written report for command staff and procurement
  • Our research has covered rifles, sighting systems, machine guns and SWAT team carbines

Best for: agencies facing an equipment purchase or a doctrine question, and tactical teams comparing options.

Investment

From $10,000; typically $10,000 to $50,000

Depends on the number of shooters, days on the range and equipment compared. Quoted once we know your question.

What you get

See where the time went.

A pass or fail tells you who cleared the line. A JMAP report shows how each officer got there: presentation, splits, reloads, and how long each took against the standard. The same data rolls up into a report for the whole unit.

  • A report for every shooter
  • A report for the unit or agency
  • Pre and post comparison, so you can see training work
